A New Home
Welcome to the new site, built on WordPress. So far so good, although there’s a bit more tweaking to finish up. I’m going to have a pretty busy month-and-a-half, with a gallery exhibition coming up (woohoo!), so I wanted to go with what I’ve got. For now at least.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.

Hi Paul,
Nice looking site! Very clean and functional and the left hand sidebar seems nicely balanced after all of the right sided blogs out there (including mine ;-p The individual blog pages are very serene and I really like the image used for this page. It makes a great introduction to the new look.
I also like the way the ‘Blog’ menu item takes me to a thumbnail page. It’s a convenient way of getting a larger view of your work and the sequence of shots you’ve chosen to display. I see that there are no images for some of the earlier entries. Is that because of the way the page works, or just some of the tweaking (not the best word to use in this day and age) that needs to be finished.
The slide show on the home page seems a bit out of place for the general feel of the site. All the rest of the site feels like being in an art gallery where you can sit and look at the work from a distance (the blog link) or stand close and study the work (but no flash or tripods allowed). The slideshow breaks that calming environment a bit for me. Perhaps it would seem less frenetic if the default were non-auto or if the pictures remained for longer or if there was a cross dissolve type of transition.
I’m glad that you updated your blog and will enjoy visiting it each time there is new work. Oh, and a ‘preview post’ button for us perfectionists who are nowhere near perfect!

Great looking website Paul! It has been added to my daily sites to check.

Thanks Richard and Jason. I have to fix the banner at the top and maybe figure out a minor layout issue on the blog pages and round one will be finished.
Richard, the problem with images in earlier posts not showing is that the WordPress theme I’m using wants those images specifically uploaded for each post, which I didn’t do with Blogger. I’ve re-uploaded the images on the first few posts but might just leave the older ones as-is, unless I suddenly get some surplus of free time. :)
I agree with the movement of the slide show not fitting with the rest of the site. I’ve set that to be stopped by default.
I’ve also added a Flickr slideshow in the main viewing section of the home page. I’m not sure if that should also be paused by default.
I’ll look into a “preview post” button.
