Hording Secrets

Talking with a friend a little while back I mentioned that I’ve been teaching photography some lately. He made the comment that I shouldn’t give away all my secrets. Really, for me, I think there’s just one key: Never lose the wonder.

I’m always looking for the root causes, the deeper questions and motivations. In my photography, I think below it all is wonder. It’s what’s behind curiosity and tenacity. We live in such an endlessly interesting world and there’s so many ways to edit it and chop it and interpret it. So many nooks and crannies to find and so many really great moments to capture.

Curiosity and a sense of wonder are at the heart of it. Keep playing, there’s no real secret in that.

    Paul,

You are spot on in feeling this way!

I just came back from Photoshop World in Boston where a bunch of the worlds best photographers in their fields spent three days trying to teach us everything they know about their art and craft.

They are not afraid of losing their status because there are other photographers who know how they do it. They feel that they are growing as photographers by sharing.

I wish I knew enough so that I could share as well…
